    Back in the day, as far as I can remember, it was just The match of the day. These days it should perhaps be called Matches of the day.

    Whale oil beef hooked. I'd always thought Mike Hugg wrote the theme tune, but apparently it was Barry Stoller. Nice pension, whatever!
