Great indeed! James Earl Jones' career included some of the most memorable roles ever performed on stage or captured on film. Rest in peace, Great Man!
TBH I'm not surprised - he was only 69; it seems he collapsed while at an event in North Macedonia, which suggests he hadn't been in particularly poor health before he died.
I hadn't noticed that Gustavo Gutierrez had died, 20 October, one of the key figures in Liberation Theology. I think Ratzinger tried to hobble him, but he was very good at lying low, and eventually he has been feted as a champion of the poor. Of course, the present pope is more sympathetic.
Died in January, but I only learned of it yesterday: Peter Schickele, the "discoverer" of the long-lost (but not nearly long enough) music of P.D.Q. Bach, is filling Johann Sebastian in on the more forgettable moments of the life of the oddest of Bach's twenty-odd children.

He was also a serious composer. His Jonah's Song was inspired by the scene in Herman Melville's Moby-Dick where a simple country congregation sings a hymn inspired by the Biblical story of Jonah. Schickele's composition is a beautifully done pastiche on the shape-note setting that Melville's congregation would have sung,.
Rickey Henderson, the all-time leader in stolen bases and widely considered the best leadoff hitter ever in baseball, has died, age 65. He was not on my list. Because he was only age 65.
I am stunned. One of the great baseball players of my lifetime. And now he is gone.

RIP. I knew his name best from Sky, but I know his work from pretty much everywhere.
not entirely me and kingsfold will each get 11 points for their predictions.
As @Crœsos has already confirmed, I did. That's two I've got right so far this year, which is a bit alarming...
I think that makes three for you.
About 114 points in total
5 people picked Jimmy Carter - and he reached 100 this month
If she was in fact killing anything, that would disqualify her from any points.
(Yes, Miss Amanda was a "deadhead" back in the day.)

I suspect a few shipmates may be waay ahead on which scene this is: https://youtu.be/LB_aegewceU?si=I_tEW7IlTElB6ydK
I think Thursday night's beer and popcorn watch is decided.
*sigh* I haven't seen Young Frankenstein in a while. Now I have to watch it, poignantly.

I don't think so.
John Tinniswood, said at age 112 to be the world's oldest man, is comparing notes with Methuselah.
God bless him. ❤️🕯
