What looked funniest was the Dogs. During the gallop they had not been at all out of breath, but now, as they swarmed and wriggled upwards, there was plenty of spluttering and sneezing among them; that was because they would keep on barking, and every time they barked they got their mouths and noses full of water.

Prayers for all here, especially the soul of A, ChastMastr and the LC family at this time. Lord have mercy. Had a 28 min phone call with my daughter the other day. We are still distant, but (hopefully) moving towards understanding each other's needs just a little bit more. PTL.

Dogwood, not rowan/dogberry. I don’t know if it’s the reason for the Lamb family’s choice, but the flowering dogwood is the state tree of Missouri, where she lives. (It’s also the state flower of North Carolina, where I live.)
Ours is the kind Nick referenced, which is native here, and which is one of the two trees (the redbud tree, cercis canadensis is the other one) I have always wanted to have. We have the white flowering variety of dogwood, though. As we've lost our third cherry tree in a row, I thought to replace it (giving up on that fruit!) with a dogwood in Snoopy's honor--though I couldn't plant it right at her grave, as my husband, for some unknown reason, decided directly under the grape arbor would be a good spot--and trees don't do so well under arbors . The lambs' ears are fuzzy, like Snoopy's ears, and also low enough to make it possible to string a hammock over them in the summer--which was the other intended use of the grape arbor. Meanwhile, Mr. Lamb, though exhausted, insists on cutting down the dead cherry tree RIGHT NOW using a small reciprocating saw. God only knows how long it will take him (he'd probably use his teeth if he hadn't found that saw) but at least he didn't find the chainsaw, glory be. I'm going to take a nap in the pleasant assurance that he is likely to retain all his fingers and toes.

My brother T is not doing well. I don't think it's going to be long. At least he doesn't seem to be in any pain,
And now our old friend J I need a heart procedure tomorrow. He had what should have been an easy operation last week, and instead ended up with a hole in his heart which won't stop bleeding, so now they have to insert a tube for some reason. Please pray. This is too much all at once.

It's hard to lose a beloved pet. I'm sorry for your loss, LC. This is a beautiful plan - I think you'll enjoy those fuzzy lambs' ears.
