While Ayn Rand was not quite as stupid as her detractors sometimes made her out to be, I doubt Greenspan learned much about economics from her specifically, and only latched onto her the way a keynesian might latch onto, say, Mother Jones.

Oh, Rand was not stupid, and better than no morality at all (she at least believed in justice and honesty), but pretty ghastly. But “better than Nietzsche” is a pretty low bar. I hope all three of them (Greenspan, Rand, Nietzsche) have learned better and are doing better than when on Earth.
Oh lord had totally forgotten about him & hos big band. My sister was a a huge fan in the late 60s to early 70s. I don’t recall BS& T visiting Oz at that time so probably heard their offerings on LP
I gather Dame Penelope Keith, celebrated English actress often in comedy parts, has sadly died either yesterday or this morning (29th June). She was 86.

I've just begun re-watching The Good Life recently, ValeMargo/Penelope. She was a wonderful actress ..., I would have loved to have seen her in The Importance of being Ernest.
Victor Willis, the frontman and patrol-officer from The Village People.
The Guardian obit gave ample space to the controversy over Trump's use of YMCA at rallies, and also the original controversy over whether the song was referencing the club as a hangout for gay men. Willis, who never seems to have identified as gay himself, denied that interpretation, but I think that was the pretty standard reading among the non-naive.
As for Trump's appropriation of the song, apparently Willis went back and forth on that, and was a Harris supporter in 2024, but ultimately liked the publicity(and presumably attendant royalties) it brought in for the tune. Trump has tweeted condolences.
In fairness to Willis, he wasn't the only one trying to run away from the gay innuendo inherent in the band's image. In the movie Can't Stop The Music, at least one member of the band, the construction worker, was shown as making out with a woman.

We plan to stream the service to YouTube, from @WhiteRockBaptictChurchNM.
Apparently it will be accessible for some time afterward.
Sending hugs and prayers for her soul and for you, @JCP. xxx ooo
That was my first thought too. I wonder who I'm confusing him with? 🤔

And the voice of the English dub of Chihiro in my alltime favorite Ghibli film Spirited Away.
Heartbreaking. All the hugs to her nearest and dearest.

Oh, how sad.
Hopefully serving God, anyway. He was a Rand fan…
