He has no respect for NATO and has suggested invading at least two NATO countries.
He doesn’t seem to get that the more allies he pisses off, the less access to distant bases he is going to have, the more logistical problems he is going to have.
And also, I think, the real story. All well and good for people to tell pollsters they disapprove of Trump, but it won't amount to much if they turn around and elect another congress full of MAGA Republicans willing to give him a blank cheque.

We in Britain have, or more probably now had, a similar feature, the “Quiet Tory”. These would tell pollsters one thing, usually what they thought the pollsters wanted to hear, and then go into the polling booth and meekly vote Tory after all. From the outcome I think Brexit went the same way.
Yes. A fair few less 'quiet tory' votes, and we'd still be in the EU, and not suffering the fall-out of all that Brexit shite we were served up...
I suggest we are cursed with “Quiet Reformers” now. A bit of a stretch from the archetypal red-faced loon, frothing at the mouth, but I believe a lot of Reform voters are outwardly respectable despite being hooked by the “votes for boats”.

Currently “generic ballot” polls—polls that ask simply “if the election for the US House of Representatives were held today, would you vote for a Democrat or a Republican?”—show Democrats with a 6–8 point lead over Republicans.
While that is usually a fairly reliable indicator of general mood, it doesn’t take into account that the actual election will actually be by districts and will involve actual candidates who may have specific advantages or disadvantages.
As for the so-called “shy Trump voter,” the voter unwilling to tell a pollster they plan to vote for Trump, there is debate as to how real or widespread a phenomenon that is. But even accepting it as a given, it doesn’t seem to have been a factor in past elections where Trump isn’t on the ballot.

Given the erratic behavior, the unnecessary war, the high fuel prices, the illegal tariffs, the loss of neighbors and fellow workers, I personally do not think there are many shy Trump voters in these parts.
It's possible that a black woman, an immigrant and their children considered it safer to leave the US at this time, otherwise they might find themselves picked off the street by masked thugs and whipped off to detention centres without access to lawyers and then overcrowded prisons in Central America.
He gets more insane (or maybe more desperate) by the day. I'm rather hoping - though I know one should be careful what one wishes for - that our new PM will take a tough line, and tell him to abandon the bases he has here in the UK.
That, no doubt, would lead to threats to bomb (or annex) England...
We are not praying for the death of any human being even inhumane orange ones.
I'm not praying for it, but just reminding us all that he is 80, possibly not in good health, and will not live for ever...Luke 12 vv16-21 is a slightly relevant passage, perhaps:
16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
Can Trump run for vice-president with a lacky running for president who will resign after taking office?
It’s actually a matter over which lawyers can and do argue.
The 22nd Amendment says:
No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.
The key clause here is “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”
Meanwhile, the relevant bit of the 12th Amendment says:
[N]o person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.
The argument can be made, and has been made by some, that the 22nd Amendment doesn’t make someone elected president twice per se ineligible to later “serve” as president. It just says such a person cannot be elected president more than twice.
I think the stronger argument is that the 22nd Amendment makes Trump ineligible to be elected president or vice president.
Well, he might like to have a third go, but Death may have other ideas...
I would prefer to have him around just long enough for him to see everything he has vandalised in Washington restored, his name removed from any building that bears it, and the trump tower in NY demolished to make room for a public park.

Rather than a public park, I might suggest public toilets.

I hope he has to see these things, or just hear about them, through the bars of a non-country club prison.
Inquiring minds want to know: If Trump declares the Strait of Hormuz US Territory and an Iranian fisherman's wife give birth to a child at the Strait could the child claim American citizenship by birthright?

Speak for yourself! Or if you're speaking for the powers that be on the Ship, use host tags.
I for one question the morality of this position, given the possibility that many more lives might be saved if Trump were to die in office. Vance has zero rizz, and with a Democratic Congress, things could be very different.
As long as you are careful to avoid posting anything that could be read by the litigiously inclined as an incitement to violence, I think it is a matter of personal conscience with regard to a public figure.

I have a cherished dream that the next Democrat that is elected President (assuming that we are permitted to have free elections in the future) will immediately issue an Executive Order naming the Bigliest Ballroom the "Barack Obama Ballroom." It trips off the tongue and it will make Trump gag on his!
Let me tell the story of Doris Miller, a black cook serving on the USS West Virginia when it was attacked by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor. Despite having no training in anti-aircraft weapons, he took over a battery two 50 caliber anti-aircraft machine guns. He was credited with shooting down four Japanese Zeros and was awarded the Naval Cross in 1942. He was latter killed in another battle in the Pacific.
After years of lobbying by the black military community, the next aircraft carrier to come on online was to be named after him. Guess which president now wants that carrier named after himself.
With this coming right before the midterms this is not good (well maybe, depending on how you look at it). Certainly a way of killing the black vote--and many veterans for that matter.
No aircraft carrier has ever been named after a live president. Moreover, the current one was a draft dodger.
BTW, the spelling of the sailor's first name seems equivocal - it's rendered in this report as Dorris, Doris, and Dorie...
[Aside... the steam catapult is still a very effective way to accelerate an aircraft into the air. Trump's advocacy is irrelevant - he has no idea what he is talking about, as is usually the case. The cost is likely in its favour if steam is available from a ship's propulsion system for it. I imagine that shielding the strong electromagnetic pulse generated by the magnetic type to protect ship and aircraft electronic systems is a serious design headache - been involved in a bit of that stuff along the way].

By "support", you mean approval ratings? Or willingness to vote for Republicans in November, or...?
The mid-terms are a whole different story.
He doesn’t seem to get that the more allies he pisses off, the less access to distant bases he is going to have, the more logistical problems he is going to have.
Thanks.

You are, alas! probably correct.

Maybe Chuck can do it.
It always seemed to me that they were trying to set themselves up as the British monarchy's ambassadors to American popular culture.
IIRC, some time ago (maybe when Trump was threatening Greenland), there was a video on YouTube about the possibility of Norway buying the US.
You could do worse...
That, no doubt, would lead to threats to bomb (or annex) England...
I would say it is defended by a steam-driven buffoon.
There's actually a Wikipedia page about this!
I believe that no one who is not qualified to be President can run for Vice President, but I'm not sure.
