But the Bible never tells us what we are saved from without telling us what we are saved for.
And this passage tells us that we a members of a collective kingdom which serves God as a collective priesthood.

The most important question ever asked is, Who is Jesus? The answer to the question changes everything. This church is facing a change (of leadership) and the important thing to remember is that this is God's church and God builds his church on the confession of believers.

Religion asks man to lift himself up to be acceptable to God through his own good works, upright living and "religious rituals"
The Christian Gospel tells us that God sent his Son down to us to save us and lift us up and make us part of God's family.
We don't have to worry about being good enough to be saved, but can enjoy the freedom that the Gospel brings
Forgiveness (on the lectionary Gospel reading from Matthew; parable of the unforgiving slave). A very solid sermon on what forgiveness is and what it is not.
Forgiveness means letting go of past wrongdoings and not carrying guilt. The sacrament of reconciliation (confession) was recommended as it marks an actual moment when guilt is laid down.
Today was the 100th Anniversary of the founding of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pullman. My son was the guest preacher. He preached on the Parable of the Sower, talked about how the life of our congregation is reflected in the different soil, how there have been hard times , rocky times, thorns also bountiful times. He mentioned as soon as we would leave the sanctuary God is flinging us into the world much like the Sower of the parable.
The one point he ad-libed a bit, he was talking about how people have come into the church over the years, and then he added, maybe someone in the congregation just happened to google churches near me and our name came up.
Well, that's what happened. I had noticed a young man with two children come in just before the service began. At the end of the service, this man told Mrs. Gramps he had literally just googled for a church near him and Trinity's name came up.
It was a great service, actually an hour and 35 minutes in length. I will post it on the Ship of Fools Facebook page.
