Usual breakfast and then vegan sausage sandwich for lunch. Out for a cup of tea this afternoon where we were also given a very nice slices of vegan ginger cake and we bought the rest of the cake home. I'll try to ignore it as I'm feeling very fat at the moment. Tea was vegan duck wraps part two.
Breakfast: latte
Lunch: cheddar cheese omelette
Dinner at 10pm (I was teaching til after 9pm): a quick tagliatelle with cheese sauce (Roquefort, Cheddar and Parmesan).
A very cheese based day, I need to eat lots of veggies tomorrow.
Lunch: Cheddar cheese & tomato sandwiches. Had to have 3 sandwiches, as the tomato was rather large (another Gourmandsun), but the slices of bread were very thin.
Dinner: Sausages, roasted butternut squash (the first from the garden this year), Brussels sprouts, baby potatoes, and gravy. Followed by a Magnum Classic.
Dinner was one of Mrs Sioni’s chicken and leek pies from February no less, and it was really good! Amazing how well the pastry held up after all this time.
She is an excellent cook and she has a particular gift for pastry.
Loving reading about everyone's meals and Mrs S's pie sounds delicious!
At my place, usual porridge breakfast, tonight will be chicken schnitzel and veg for me. A salad for Cheery husband (he is dieting), honey soy chicken kebabs for Cheery son. He will have his kebabs with rice, I will do some veg for us to share, or if there's enough we'll steal some salad from Mr Cheery.
I raced out to do a spot of shopping this morning and realising I had no petrol, I bought half a tank and treated myself with a servo sandwich for lunch. Multigrain bread with turkey, cranberry, cheese, cucumber and carrot, very tasty!
Woke up and realised I must go to the dentist, a cavity (gaping bottomless crater) somewhere. Breakfast: ate two sliced bananas and a cranberry and pumpkin seed biscuit with far too much sugar in it.
Lunch: Steamed broccoli and crumbled feta
Supper: Korean Ottogi Yeul Ramen (uber-spicy junk food) noodles with left-over steamed broccoli and spring onions. Some of the expensive white wine (semillon) I was saving for a dinner party this coming Saturday. The ramen was so fiery I couldn't taste the wine at all.
Breakfast: the last of the fouace (a very small bit), toast with marmalade
Lunch: the remains of last night's soup, apple compote and a madeleine
Dinner: husband en rouge is making a risotto with fancy mushrooms - shitakes and chanterelles, but sadly no ceps, which are virtually impossible to find this year on account of lack of rain . I have made a banana cake to go after.
Breakfast was a quick raid on the biscuit barrel before we set off to meet my sister in law for lunch at a pub restaurant. Had a couple of excellent pints of Tim Taylor Landlord and probably the best sausage and mash ever. The menu read “Black Pudding and Pork Sausage” but when it arrived there was no Black Pudding! We soon found out that the sausages were made with Black Pudding and that was the key.
The ladies had a pudding. I had an espresso. We shall return.
Supper will be minimal but we have a couple of cream buns.
Usual breakfast, except I'd run out of butter so I spread the buttery with Philly and a grind of mixed peppercorns, and it was really nice!
Lunch: breadsticks, sugar snap peas, small chocolate bar
Just now: broken crackers with smoked salmon pâté while I wait for the fishcakes to cook for supper, with which there'll be a glass of Sauvignon Blanc.
Later: grapes, possibly fruit loaf and/or chocolate treats
Usual breakfast, and lunch was two slices of toast one wth marmite and the other with peanut butter. Salad and olives were on the side. Tea tonight baked potatoes with vegan cheese and home made coleslaw.
@KarlLB I’d trade that bread for cake. Bread is the worst for diets but it is so convenient.
Less said about the complicated position regarding me, weight loss, bread and for that matter cheese the better. Let it suffice that I can choose between excess weight and dietary misery.
Lunch: Cheese & tomato omelette, wholemeal toast. The toast was made with the end crust of a sliced wholemeal loaf, and was too thick to fit in the toaster so had to be done under the grill. It was almost two slices worth of bread. Not good.
Dinner: The last of the roasted cauliflower etc. It was a bigger cauliflower than I usually use and we couldn't manage it all over the w/e.
Decided I must really up my veg intake, so made a salad of cucumber, tomato, onion, radish, sugar snap peas and celery with a small tin of tuna laced with wasabi.
Dinner was a steak pie from the Proper Butcher, with cauliflower. Accompanied by a red from the Loire.
Lunch: tabbouleh with plenty of herbs, happy I am planting more, they grow well here and I use basil, parsley, rocket, mint chives in all kinds of summer dishes.
Supper: tonight I'm going out to my new book club and we will discuss Elena Ferrante's My Brilliant Friend while eating snacks, dips and tapas with good wines. Rumours of tiramisu and limoncello because the book under discussion is Italian.
Breakfast: latte
Lunch: a piece of cheese at 4pm
Tea: chicken leg with citrus salad (kidney beans, rocket, orange segments, roasted carrot with honey and orange juice, and halloumi, with the rest of the honey and orange juice dressing).
I know pairing carrot and orange is traditional but I am not convinced by it. I think the orange overwhelms the sweetness of the carrots, making them seem bitter. I think orange is better paired with a bitter salad (so the rocket was fine with it).

I couldn't agree more and you put it so accurately I know why I have always felt this way.

Went off to my new book club and we were so passionately involved in talking books, chin hairs., decoloniality, women's friendships, crawling out alive from terrible family backgrounds, sibling rivalry and hateful pedagogies that We Forgot To Eat. A first in my experience. We did have some wine but were busy gesticulating argument points with half-empty wine glasses and not feeling any need for refills.
So I have Tupperware crammed with uneaten delicious food to get me through tomorrow and a list of unmissable reads to accompany the eating. I had forgotten the weird enchantment of Book Club Honeymoon Limerence.
I had my usual breakfast and lunch was a pretend pastrami sandwich with some of the left over coleslaw from last night. Cake was eaten along with a rather strange cereal bar at a workshop this afternoon. Tea was vegan 'steak' pie with mash and cabbage.
Lunch: Humous, crudities & a few rosemary crackers.
Dinner: Wholemeal Penne with a sauce made from roasted butternut squash whizzed together with creme fraiche, rosemary brown butter, nutmeg, cinnamon, & aleppo pepper flakes. Accompanied by Swiss chard from the garden.
Made curried carrot and parsnip soup for lunch. While I like sweet'n'stodgy in pancakes, not so much in soup.
Bangers and mash for dinner. The Proper Butcher makes own sausages, in this instance onion-flavoured. Lurking in the freezer are lime and coconut ones. Portuguese red.
Walking home from my early morning appointment, I heard the siren call of the boulangerie and decided to indulge my inner hobbit. Thus
Second breakfast: pistachio croissant
Lunch: fresh pasta with leftover cooked mushrooms and red kuri squash. No dessert on account of second breakfast.
Dinner: quenelles de brochet, which are a very quick and easy meal if you buy them ready made from the fishmonger (which any sensible person does). Apple and pear compote.
Lunch: thin, crisp, wholemeal toast with a selection of spready things that needed using-up.
Dinner: A bit of a disaster, as dinner was intended to achieve more 'using-up' to make space in the fridge, but more comestibles arrived, unexpectedly, for Mr RoS at his Scrabble group.
It came in a carrier bag containing five boxed-up portions of soup, plus a damaged french stick, which had come from the local Community Food Pantry, as a gift from someone who has occasionally needed our help. The soup had been hot, but had been around for a few hours, so was just warm when it arrived in our kitchen.
The planned meal had to be crammed back in the fridge, and as there would be nowhere to put the soup, Mr RoS insisted that (at least some of) it had to be eaten. He got a large bowl of it, well blasted in the microwave, for his dinner.
I didn't fancy it, as my Food Hygiene training makes me squeamish about food that has been hanging about at room temperature for hours, and it didn't look or smell very appetising anyway, so I had to dispose of the remaining gloop. Not fun.
For my dinner I then scrambled two eggs, and stirred in a couple of tablespoons of the kimchi that needed using-up.
The rest of it is still taking up room in the fridge.
Food delivery day, so our fridge is looking pretty stuffed too.
Breakfast: Latte
Lunch: Almond croissant
Dinner: Minced venison lasagne, which was a good opportunity to use up some vegetables from the fridge. There are two small portions left over.
Yet another very hot day ahead, so I will not feel like cooking or eating. Thankfully only two more before cooling off once again. Breakfast coffee, square of goat cheese, and bread I baked from yogurt, oatmeal, and a handful of walnuts. It was topped with a spread of pumpkin spice butter. Lunch heating up a prepared chicken, pineapple, and rice frozen meal. Dinner. Not sure I will want to eat any. Most likely I will have an apple with a smear of peanut butter.
Coffee, goat's cheese/chevre on cracker of ancient grains.
Had to wait for Dickensian bank manager to arrive at 10am so bought and ate an entire packet of gemsbok biltong, as South Africans do quite shamelessly in public places.
No lunch because had to get hair cut and styled, so planning a supper stirfry with egg noodles, red bell peppers, carrots, cabbage, spring onions, green Thai chillies.
Breakfast: latte
Lunch: salted peanuts while listening to a history lecture (on Roman dress).
Tea: sticky rice, mixed fish chunks baked in green zhoug paste and yoghurt, mushroom and cavolo nero curry.
Chilean white (Gewürztraminer).
We normally go out for lunch on Fridays, and have a light meal or snack in the evening. After the gifted food we felt obliged to use yesterday evening, I decided that the dinner planned for then should be eaten today rather than thrown out, so we had -
Lunch: Sardines & tomatoes on toasted 2 day-old baguette.
Dinner: Egg Fried Rice with mushrooms and the remains of a pot of kimchi that needed finishing off. Pudding was the last slice of a plain sponge with the remains of a jug of custard.
Update: shared focaccia, bruschetta and olives; risotto with sausage, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes and cream; Pinot Grigio; Gaelic coffee; good company.
Breakfast: latte
Lunch: freshly made wholemeal baguettes with red pepper houmous and a selection of cheeses; Cenarth Brie, Thelma’s caerffili, and Fleet Valley Blue.
Tea will be: leftover venison lasagne with avocado and black bean salad.
Squeezed two large oranges for fresh juice, had a scrambled egg.
Went off to a lunchtime braai or barbecue with elderly friends. Tiny pink lamb cutlets grilled over coals were divine. My tomato and butter lettuce salad with goats' cheese was a success but everyone shunned the tzatziki because cucumbers repeat on them. Lesson learnt. My Diemersdal Sauvignon Rose went down well.

Dinner was Malay Red Chicken with parathas.
Lunch - Scrambled eggs on toast.
Teatime - vegetable soup
Later-crackers and cheese, peach yogurt.
Any health benefits will be totally undone by dinner which will be haddock bits, deep-fried in Anstruther batter. Plus chips.

Dinner: roasted monkfish with Swiss chard and mixed mushrooms. Cheese, compote. Served with a very nice white Burgundy.
Digestif: raspberry eau de vie.
Lunch was a beef sandwich with salad.

Skipping supper.
