I've seen Love Story and a few of his minor roles. But I will always most closely associate him with Barry Lyndon, where he really just blended right in as another object in the splendid scenery.

I loved “Barry Lyndon” (and I can’t hear the Sarabande from the Handel Keyboard Suite in d minor without thinking of that movie), and I also loved him in “Paper Moon.” But I mainly think of Ryan O’Neal as Howard Bannister in “What’s Up Doc,” opposite Barbra Streisand and Madelyn Kahn.
I'm sure many of you remember Comet. (I miss her here on the Ship.)
She posted on the Book of Face that her mother passed on Christmas Eve while listening to A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.
I barely recall anything about The Full Monty, though I associate it with the mainstreaming of erotic entertainment that got underway in the mid-90s, with Calendar Girls being a later entry into that particular canon.
I did appreciate his turn as the repentant legal-shark in Michael Clayton, though his monologue about having a moral epiphany in a brothel was a little over the top. The scenes of him wandering around Manhattan in a prophetic stupor were well executed.
Iconic anti-apartheid photographer Peter Magubane has died at the age of 92. (link to Washington Post hopefully accessible to most Shippies; there is also a tribute in the New York Times.)

Eh? I saw The Full Monty way back then and the last thing I would have described it as would be 'erotic'!

Sorry if that was confusing; I didn't mean the movies themselves were erotic. I meant that the plot-lines present burlesque dancing and soft-core modeling as acceptable activities for the characters to engage in. As opposed to previous screen treatments, where those vocations are often portrayed as exploitative, or at least having problematic consequences for the people involved.
It was back in February, but I’ve just seen the Church Times obituary of the Revd Prof Anthony Thiselton. A remarkable intellect and a lovely unassuming man.
Glynis Johns has died aged 100. My dad always fancied her and wanted to call me Glynis. I liked her acting, but think I've had a lucky escape name wise.

My mother was enamoured of the Sound of Music and wanted to call me Edelweiss. Another lucky escape!

I did not know until yesterday that the woman who played the mother in Mary Poppins was also the singer for whom Send In The Clowns was written.

The Sound Of Music doesn't appear on Ms. Johns' filmography on wiki. I assume you're thinking of Mary Poppins?

I don't think @MaryLouise was suggesting that. She was just giving another example (in addition to @Sarasa 's) of a child avoiding a problematic name arising from a parent's fandom.

That’s three movies I need to go looking for.
Me too.

I think I'd like to do that when it's my time.

RIP Gerald.

One of the many victims of Covid...
As a devoted S&H fan, I am greatly saddened.
