It is 96F here. My poor dog is used to a noon walk, and can not understand why that is not going to happen, until it cools down this evening so she will not burn her paws. Thankful she can go out on our patio which has dirt all around the edge.
The sunshine is really oppressive and is so uncomfortable to be outside in, even when the temperature itself is not as bad. I bought a UPF parasol so hopefully I can be out and about a bit more. Being forced to be cooped up inside all day is miserable.
I have been looking at the time of day at which peak temperature occurs, and sources suggest this is generally between 4pm and 5pm. Today we are forecast a high of 28c from 3pm to 7:30pm, and it’s now 25c just after midday. I’m sure this has been so for most of this hot spell.
That high temperature seems to persist for longer, and later in the day. I’m wondering if this is a sign that climate change. Any climatologists onboard?
Really glad we gave in and put the ac on last night because of the heat though not because it is 32C/90F outside. Rather because the air quality is horrifyingly bad. Looks like fog, but as soon as you take a breath--and cough--you can sure tell it isn't. PM10 levels are 549!! (hazardous for non-vulnerable people)
It looks like we may have a little rain around Zooport, probably this afternoon, and going on into the next few days. The Met Office suggests a maximum of 25c from tomorrow onwards, so many will feel better.
Arkland the Shrivelled is forecast to enjoy 74F or thereabouts for the next week or so, with a gentle breeze from the north (or north-west/north-east), usually associated with Winter...
Only 27c and we have RAIN! Quite windy too. It feels much fresher already and I don’t think we’ll need to water anything this evening.
No Pimms on the patio though.
It's much cooler today, which is good for our church's Annual Strawberry Tea. Mrs RR baked so many scones this morning I feared an SEH ( scone event horizon). They should all go. PTL.

Yes, I've noticed that, too.
Looks like we’re all going to have to adapt to this generally warmer weather, and I find it’s more variable too and windy. Must either replace or remove the front fence.

Our main problem was keeping entertained in a large tent, four adults and four adults when it rained. Lots of Mah Jongg, lots of cider.
You do realise that is average minimum for July. Average maximum is 22c.
