Poor Molly is totally confused. It has been hot so both Mr. Image and I took an afternoon nap. Seeing us Molly laid down as well. When we got up Molly thinks it is morning. She was following me around and I could not figure out what she wanted. She finally went to her bowl and barked at me. That is when I realized that she thinks she should have breakfast and a walk. I put a few dog treats in her bowl and that seemed to have satisfied her but as it is way too warm for her paws on the street we skipped the walk. She is not happy.
He cried in the car but stopped crying at traffic lights so it seems that, like all our pups, he doesn’t like the car. So short journeys will be in order at first.
Tatze was really interested but gentle with him. While she went for her walk I took Ted in the garden for his first wee, poo and play. He cried when he was tired (a pitiful sound!) so I popped him in his crate. He chewed my fingers until he fell asleep and then had a good snooze. Big wags when he woke up. 🐾💕
If I were ill in hospital and he came to visit me, I think I'd (a) feel better immediately; and (b) pretend that I was still ill so that I'd get to see him again!
We've had another broken nights sleep with the black cat of unknown origin outside our windows staring in, while Elizabeth gets distressed and yowls.
I have a single strip of the anti-cat spikes on our window sills, but this isn't deterring the black cat. I have just ordered more in the hope that a double row might do the trick.
I'm contemplating getting one of those ultra-sonic devices, and sticking it into the flower bed below the window. Does anyone know whether, if the black cat triggered the ultra sonic device outside, Elizabeth would also be able to hear it, through a double glazed window? I don't want to spend good money only to have the night time yowls of distress at the black cat replaced by the night time yowls of a cat whose ears are hurting because there's an ultra-sonic device going off!
All the adverts and information seem aimed at non-cat owners who are trying to stop random cats from using their gardens as litter trays.
I helped set up a new lending library in our mobile home park. We have one bookcase for fiction and one for nonfiction. I love that someone donated a book supposedly written by a dog and placed it in the nonfiction section. @North East Quine Is there any chance to barrow an ultra-sonic device from a friend or neighbor to try it out? Can you check with a Vet? I agree that wasted money would be a shame.
I spoke to a neighbour who has a motion activated device which flashes to deter cats in her garden. I asked her if it worked and she said that within two hours of installing it, it had attracted a cat which seemed to think it was a variation on those laser-pointer toys for cats.
However she said that overall it had decreased the number of cats in her garden.
The plastic spikes I ordered arrived this morning, so I'll have our window sills bristling with them soon.
We have confined Elizabeth to an upstairs room overnight for the last two nights to ensure that we had an unbroken night. She doesn't like that, so it's not a long term solution. Yesterday morning we discovered that some plants in the flower bed under our window had been damaged / destroyed so we think the black cat had been making strenuous attempts to attract Elizabeth's attention.
My daughter's parakeet (budgie) just died. She'd had him for two years, she found him outside clinging to her kitchen window frame. She's pretty sad, and so am I. So say a prayer if you will for a little bird named Birb.
My friend's dog is missing - and has been since Saturday morning in London. The longer it all goes on the worse it feels - and the lack of knowing is unbearable.

I hadn't expected for a good outcome for this one ... but I should have kept up hope as she has been found and I have got more than a tad emotional, I'm sure dog's owners are even more teary than me! Thanks to all for thoughts and kindnesses.
I’ve been having trouble getting Ted to walk on a loose lead. I don’t have nerve pain in my hands any more but having non-working hands for so many months has made my arthritis much worse. So any pulling hurts - and stopping or changing direction when he leans into the harness hurts too. So Mr Boogs and I swapped dogs, but he has no patience for dog training (he has plenty of patience for wood turning etc, but not for dog training!) so Ted has been getting worse and worse.
Until I bought a game changer - a waist belt and bungee lead. It works! I can train Ted as I always have with the other pups, no more sore hands. He’s improving every day.
(I brush and comb him every day, he’s just naturally floofy!)
I have two cats now (as of early July). Cubby and I wanted to have cats. They are two sisters, seven months old, named Stormy (grey and white) and Sunny (calico with orange).
Those cats sound lovely @ChastMastr. I'd like a cat or two, but I really don't think I could put up with litter trays and rescuing small animals and birds.
They sound delightful, @ChastMastr . I love cats but Mr Nen doesn't and the son in law is allergic so I don't think we'll become Feline Menials any time soon.
Aroha has had a difficult day. This morning I was gardening and stuck the spade on the ground for a few minutes. It fell over hitting her on the head and she ran away.
This afternoon we went to the vets so she could have her vaccinations. A .As the pet taxi woman was taking her cage out of the car a BIG dogmonster came over to sniff it. Then the waiting room was full and a barking dog was amongst the impatient customers (we went and hid in the small waiting room by ourselves.) In addition to all this a non neutered tom had sprayed somewhere in the building recently.
I have used this vet practice for over 31 years and no visit has ever been so chaotic.
The good news is that Aroha has lost the weight the last vet told me that she needed to, and her teeth are shiny clean because a few months ago the only Royal Canin dry food available was the chunky stuff that cleans teeth.
I think both of us are glad that's over until next year.
Her next expedition will be when I take her to the cattery to stay while I'm in Wellington at the beginning of November.
Ted ate a sock the other day. He threw it up a couple of days later and ate all the regurgitated food round it before I could get to him. Luckily he didn’t re-swallow the sock! 🤣
My turtle, Christie, is not eating. I think she has an infection of some sort, I'm bringing her to the vet on Wednesday if I can. Prayers are welcome, please.

He doesn’t understand Tatze’s ‘stop now’ signals so I put an end to the game when she’d had enough.
He’ll soon learn. 🐾🙂

He thinks he's a Labrador so I call him a floofy Labrador. 🙂
RIP Birb.
That’s awful.
I hope s/he is found very soon 🕯
Thanks for letting us know!

I think we will both sleep well tonight.
Ted was a very good boy for his groom.
Look at those little toes!🐾💕
