I have been known to yell "Stop" when that happens Piglet, but this is in a suburban area where there is space to pull over. On the whole bus drivers on my route are a great crew.

In fairness there were some eejits parked at the bus stop, but he could still have let me off. At least it was a beautiful evening for a walk - I'd have been really pissed off if it had been raining!

I am waiting for a bus now. So far it's 20 minutes late.

TICTH 17th May 2025. FA Cup Final and Eurovision both on the same day. Does anyone have a spare rock I can crawl under?

My smoke alarm. Still bleeping even after I have put a new battery in.

Go for a nice walk somewhere - there'll be no one about!

Our beloved and Fr. P has arranged a recital of madrigals at our parish church this evening.
Mrs RR is going, which means I can stay at home and watch 'The Creature from the Black lagoon'.

ICTH the people who left the detritus from their visit to the golden arches all over the church car park. There's nothing cheers the soul quite like having to act as litter-picker for 10 minutes before you can position your car before choir 😡

Eurovision is fun if you go in knowing the songs are all utter shite* and it's really just a case of seeing what depths of awfulness will be plumbed

*honourable exceptions Mäneskin** and Lordi***, of course.

**Because average pop rock sounds incredible when constrasted with regular Euroshite.

    ***Ditto

Try 1) a new battery or 2) check the connection for dust etc. We used a can of compressed air to blow on the connections to fix a similar problem.

    Success at last.
    Tried another new battery- dead.
    Another- but connectors were mis-shapen.
    Third time lucky.
I can only think the one put in yesterday and the first attempt today were life-expired, though I couldn’t find a date.
Batteries are some of the many things Mr P hoarded. Not just three of everything, more like 33, so there is still a good supply for the next few years.

Oh dear, he sounds like Mr. Lamb.

Be sure to store the batteries in sealed bags in a cool place. They will last longer that way if protected from moisture.
  • Just thought I'd drop back in and say thanks to everyone and their lovely expressions of support. OUr family BBQ went well, we arrived half an hour early and husband helped to blow up balloons and later on daughter helped with the making of fairy bread. Cheery son kept the bubble machine topped up with bubble mix and all was well.

I think my nephew's partner is still in the new Mum stage with taking on far too much and wanting everything to be perfect. She was up at 4.30 am getting everything finalised , the car packed and I'd say she was at the park probably an hour before we arrived. I hope she's putting her feet up today!

People trying to help without stopping and either thinking what's actually useful to me or, crazy concept this, maybe finding out?

I feel like I've spent the last two days dealing with people sending me jobs that I'm not qualified for, or are stupid distances away. To top it off, I've now had someone telling me I should drive for Ocado. I mean, I may have to soon, but tonight I'm sore as hell (seeing the osteo tomorrow for a straighten-out) and simply didn't have the spoons to handle it. I could have swung, I really could.
  • Sorry to read this @Sandemaniac. Your words are timely for me as I know a friend is going to be in the job market in a few months' time. I shall sit on my ideas, unless they are asked for!

I would ask what you can do, and find out how to be sure that something is a fit - if you do that, I think your efforts would be appreciated. Or if you are simply a rock that they can cling to when the storm is too great.

TICTH Royal Mail who told me the parcel they couldn't deliver on Monday would be at the post office today. I went along at 5:00 and it ******* wasn't. 😡😡😡

TICTH people who click “Reply All” when replying to an email. I was quite pleased to receive the email informing me about an upcoming meeting. I wasn’t so pleased to receive 20 odd emails that simply said stuff like “OK” or “Thanks” or “See you then”

Mr Nen and I have frequent disagreements about that one. Depending on the situation, I quite like to know what other people have said. I prefer that to asking the sender of the email if we've heard from so and so, to be told, "Oh, yes, they replied to me individually." I guess it depends too on the volume of emails one tends to receive.

When I was at work, one person went on leave for a fairly prolonged period and their out of office reply said something along the lines of, "I'm on leave until such and such a date. If you still need a reply by then please resend your email." It didn't go down too well in some quarters but I saw the complete sense of not having to trawl through hundreds of messages on one's return, at least half of them being irrelevant by then.

Doggers. If you must exercise your bizarre exhibitionist tendencies choose somewhere other than the church car-park please 😈🤣😱

    UPDATE
The Churchwarden's cameras worked and we've got beautiful, clear pictures of the doggers' car and some of their audience. CW is going to speak to our local PCSO about what to do with evidence - watch this space! 😂🤣

    UPDATE II
We had a meeting with a local crime prevention officer who has been to the car- park and come up with a solution - an electronic gate operated with a fob for "all bone fide visitors". He pointed out that the power supply would be easy - "just run it from the church". When we pointed out the graves in between he looked bemused. 😱🤣

Ah well, back to the drawing board.
  • O dear. Did he say anything about using the Churchwarden's photos as some sort of weapon?

Among his chief weapons are surprise, photos and an almost fanatical devotion to decency.

Add to that bafflement. As he told the latest PCC I thought the internet was awash with pornography; why use our car park for an uncomfortable live performance. I can't wait to see how the secretary covers that in the Minutes.
