To Hell with fly sprays that don't work. I'm reduced to chasing the little buggers around the house with a rolled up copy of the 'Church Times'.
Has any shipmate any advice about a fly spray that actually works?
Not a spray, of course, but Spiders are useful creatures. I tend to leave webs where they are, and therefore have very few Flies, but one or two happy Spiders.
O well, that's something. Maybe some of your flock will assist with the clearing-up?
Our Place was once burgled, a long time ago, with some damage being done to two massive oak internal doors, but AFAIK nothing worthwhile was taken, as all valuables were securely locked in very heavy safes...
That's an embuggerance, BT! St Pete's was broken into some time ago (before my time there), and the buggers actually took the safe away! I don't know how much of value was in it - probably the Communion silver, but good luck with trying to sell something like that.
There's a tiny little bit of me that can't help thinking, if they were that determined (it's a very heavy piece of kit), they almost deserved to get away with it ...
Someone took the heavy safe from our church (also St Peter's) a few years ago. They got it about quarter a mile away before using what looked like a giant tin opener and then abandoning it. The registers were still in it. The following Sunday we prayed that they would come back one day by the conventional way.
I was treasurer at the time and still have my key for that safe which was replaced.
Scam artists of all kinds. I attended a "Keep Safe for Elders" workshop hosted by our local district attorney. Thankfully, many of the scams they showed I had seen and ignored. Nevertheless, the stories we heard were heartbreaking. Two key takeaways for me were to tap my credit card instead of swiping, and now that AI can replicate your voice, each family should have a designated safe word. What a sad world we live in.

Indeed - do you have insurance that will cover repairs/cleaning?

Almost, but not quite.
