    Prayers ascending...
  • @Doone I am so sorry to hear that. Adding my prayers.
  • @Doone, that is heartbreaking. Prayers ascending.
  • Prayers from me too Doone.....

...Ross - it sounds like you have some wonderful friends
    I do indeed.

Oh @Doone, I am so sorry. That is entirely tragic. Prayers ascending.

<candle> for the 9 yr old.
  • This is beyond my ability to write... Wordless prayers coming from here.
  • Indeed.

    Whee!
Last day of cycle #16 drugs! Then 7 free days (of which I'll need 3 or 4 to crawl out of That Hole) ... and do it all again
    Feeling good, although mightily fatigued.
A nutritional "tweak" making all the difference.
    Ach! I am simply brilliant!

Good to hear, Galilit. Those nutritional tweaks are so important in keeping the system going. Do you have any recommendations? I remember the first solid food was a fried egg, and a few days later a small baked potato with lots of butter! Funny how these things stay with you.

    Brava, Galilit!

Stewed summer fruit - a mix of apple, pear, peach and apricot. But I may reduce that to to just apples after I finish the container I have made. With cinnamon stick, root ginger and star anise. A bit more cooked (12 min) than I usually do. With yoghurt (sheeps' in this case but I'm not concentrating on that - anything "live" is fine)
  • Hope you are able to get some respite Galilit...

That stewed summer fruit sounds absolutely delicious! Enjoy...

    So pleased to hear @Galilit!
  • (In Homer Simpson voice) - Mmmm....stewed summer fruit.....mmmm...

BTW, Full Marks™ to everyone who makes the most of these simple things. Simple they may be, but when you're up against It™, they jolly well help.

Today Number One Son (the Beekeeper) sent first pics of the New Season's Lambies from Aotearoa-New Zealand - oh joy!

Indeed, it's the Little Things ... lambs' gambols and frolics ... it's all we ever have really ... thinking of Rutger Hauer's "all these moments" in Blade Runner
  • But, so often, the Little Things are the things worth having, no?

If they're anywhere near me they will be very cold* - I hope the wool grows fast.

Bay of Plenty. Could be worse. Thy do look happy but people always smile for photos so maybe lambies do to
  • I don't know if it's hormonetherapy related but I've got joint pain all over the place - feet, wrists, knees, fingers...and sciatica too. I have been getting more depressed too. All my beloved husband says is "it would be better if you were fitter." Which may be the case, but may not be. Can I have permission to swipe him one?
I know I'm much better off than many of you here, but today the black dog is definitely following me round today.
  • Swipe him one. You have permission. It is hard to get fitter when one is in continual pain, and if he doesn't see that, maybe he needs some pain 😏
  • Yes, a good, hard, slap on the back of his legs.

Dormouse - all good wishes from here, and I hope the joint pain, sciatica and depression improve...from the sound of things no wonder you are feeling down. :disappointed:

Permission from me too for a hubs swipe. Grrrr!

    Swipe him a good one!

I got more not-good news today. My liver enzymes are not quite off the charts, but they are between five and six times higher than they were just a few weeks ago. This explains why I've been having horrible problems with post-chemo nausea, even though this drug is an allegedly "easy" one. I'm also quite anemic. (I'm also quite annoyed.)

Fortunately, I have next week off from chemo. Deo gratias!

  • OhherOhher Shipmate
Deo gratias indeed. Keep those orneries clacking. (Hooting? Warbling? Gargling? I'm afraid I haven't summoned up a sound track for these critters.)
  • GalilitGalilit Shipmate
Dormouse, I hear you ... sent you a detailed PM (top right hand corner of the page, the little planet earth icon)
  • RossweisseRossweisse Hell Host, 8th Day Host, Glory
The orneries never seem to shut up. (Fortunately, their song is not too ghastly to hear - it's in tune, anyway!) Thank you, @Ohher!
  • GalilitGalilit Shipmate
Perhaps you need the other kind of doctor??!
  • RossweisseRossweisse Hell Host, 8th Day Host, Glory
That was a joke, of course.

But I got some better news today: Despite the enzymes, I have qualified for the research study! My insurance finally paid for the specialized testing needed for it; the cancer has not only mutated to be triple-negative, but changed to have the HER-2 gene. (Weird.)

I will go in to meet the oncologist who specializes in breast cancer research on Monday and get the details. It may not work on me, but even if it doesn't it, the knowledge gleaned will help others. And perhaps I'll get some more good time from it.

  • Yay for that! Glad to hear it, Rossweisse.

I'm so glad you have (finally) qualified for the study, Rossweisse!!!
As always, praying for you every day with special God Bothering and Reminders of what an awesome person you are!
  • Yay for qualifying for the study!
  • So glad you can take part in the study, @Rossweisse. I hope good things come of it.
  • So delighted to hear that you are going to take part in the study Rossweisse. The possibility of helping yourself and the guarantee of helping others....
  • 'Enjoy' the study, @Rossweisse!

Well, you know what I mean...my sister-in-law's late Pa used to treat every experience as a learning experience...
  • I hope that the study brings something positive for you, Ross, as well as for the world in general.
  • GalilitGalilit Shipmate
    Ditto from me!
  • RossweisseRossweisse Hell Host, 8th Day Host, Glory
I doubt the study will be enjoyable; few things in this business are. But I'm very happy to have the opportunity. Thank you all!
  • Thank God.

<candle> for Ross, and for all.

No, 'enjoyable' is not the right word - Apollo Gees for introducing it.

I'm sure we all hope that the experience is worthwhile, anyhow, and that some good comes out of it for YOU, as well as for others.

  • RossweisseRossweisse Hell Host, 8th Day Host, Glory
Thank you, BF. That is my prayer. I will find out more on Monday.
  • OhherOhher Shipmate
    Orneries, raise your tuneful lays
That studies may smooth coming days.
    Orneries, spread your wings aloft
While from determined breasts the soft
And yielding down of knowledge pluck
To line Rossweisse's nest with luck.

    :notworthy: Thank you, Ohher!

This morning I saw my specialist and it is good news! The recent tests show that the cancer has almost entirely gone - he is very surprised at how effective the treatment has been. There is one small spot left, but the continuing effects of the chemotherapy will probably clear that up. However, they will keep an eye on me (this would have happened anyway) so there will be more tests in about ten weeks, and I'll see him again at the start of November. Even though this is what I was expecting, it's great to hear it officially.

Once again, thank you for all your support. The last few months haven't always been easy, but I got by with a little help from my friends. Now I need to start exercising properly and build up my strength - maybe I can attempt the Cage Fighting World Championships in 2020?

    Well done, @Robert Armin 🕯
  • O how refreshing to hear some Good News!

But continuing <votives> for those still suffering...
  • Great to hear your good news Robert!
