Good to see you, Mary Louise - how are you getting on?
  • Joining my prayers for all those mentioned upthread.

Yes, really good to see you @MaryLouise . I often think of you. Did you decide to go for some more studying?

I would be grateful for prayers for my friend J. I heard last night that she's had a really frightening health scare, although it sounds as though she's getting excellent care and is hopefully on the recovery road.

Some weeks ago I asked for prayer for my friend M who had a nasty medical procedure to undergo. She got through that and while she does have a serious diagnosis it is the best outcome in the circumstances so thank you for your prayers.

Thirding being pleased to see you @MaryLouise.
Prayers for all that have asked and for those that need them and cannot ask.
My husband's friend A died at the weekend. An amazing man who did a lot to get our local Quaker Meeting House up and running. It wasn't unexpected, in fact he sent out letters with his Christmas cards explaining that he was unlikely to be around for Christmas 2026 but he was content with what was happening. Prayers for the repose of his soul and upholding for his wife V who has been amazing through the last few months.

Prayers ascending for all in need. May I add V, an elderly lady in our congregation (and in the choir), who's going through a bit of a rough patch.
  • 🕯for all, especially Sarasa’s A & V.
  • It's my mother's funeral tomorrow. I'm fragile; my family is fragile; relationships within it are fragile. She spent five years dying of cancer (sorry, but I really feel that is true in her case), and this has left everyone exhausted and empty. Any healing of relationships that may occur would be as welcome as a sort of dew-soaked manna in a desert.
  • Praying for you and for your family, @ThunderBunk!

  • Thanks everyone for your support. The Telemum is tucked up in a hospital bed downstairs and prospects are good for rehabilitating some of her mobility after being bedbound for the last few weeks. Generally speaking, we're fine.

And I pray for @Merry Vole's sister in particular. And mother.

And extra sorry for @ThunderBunk. May your mother rest in peace and rise in glory, and may your other family members get their heads on straight.

I have a job interview tomorrow. I have to excel, given the state of the academic job market right now. I would just like this whole job search thing to be over quickly, easily and optimally (pick any three) please.
  • Praying for all. May your mother’s funeral go as well as possible, @ThunderBunk. May the Telemum’s healing continue, and may @Telepath’s job situation be sorted quick smart.

It is my elder brother's funeral on Friday. Tomorrow I have to get to Leeds with Mr F who has problems with balance and walking. I'm relying on taxis and trains to make it doable. I have written what I want today at the ceremony, which has meant revisiting childhood memories, which brings up a lot of Stuff. My younger brother can't travel from Ireland, because his health is so precarious.

I just want it to be Saturday and home again.
  • My prayers for all facing sickness, funerals and job related situations
  • It's my mother's funeral today so I entirely sympathise on the last point. Also the precariousness of journeys by public transport with people in unpredictable health. Sometimes it's my capacity to cope that goes missing; sometimes it's my traveller companion's. But it's always anxious until the travelling is over.
  • Praying for you all 🕯

Praying for all, specially @Firenze and @ThunderBunk . May the funerals be times of healing and all travel arrangements
  • Praying.
  • Well, I'm home now and everyone survived the experience. It was even not dreadful. I didn't have to rely on public transport this time (though I do 99.9%) of the time, and great thanks to my friends M&B for driving me there and back.
  • So glad to read this, @ThunderBunk .
  • Prayers for everyone!!

My friend Greg needs prayers; God knows the reason.

Prayers ascending for everyone, especially Firenze and Mr F for safe and uneventful travel to Leeds, and giving thanks that Thunderbunk's mum's funeral went as well as it could.

    Seconding that

Sometimes “not dreadful” is pretty outstanding.

Continuing to pray for you, and for all here.

Saw Sammy this weekend. He has certainly grown. When we last saw him, he was three months and was in the less then 10 percentile weight wise. He is now nine months and in the 70 percentile. He has had a cast around his hips for about two weeks. Don't worry, he can be diapered without much problem. He seems well adjusted to his restrictions. Only once did he seem frustrated over the limitation. They are encouraging him to creep forward, and they will put him on a four wheel scooter to get him to move like he is crawling. He has yet to fully grasp moving forward on the scooter, though. In a couple of weeks, he will have a follow-on x-ray to see if the bone is mending like they want it to. If not, he may have to have a cast for another month. Praying for the best.

When we left, I told his parents I hope the x-ray will show progress. They said he has already shown progress.

    <votive> for all

So much need. But The Lord God is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent.

Lord, in your generous Love, Mercy and Wisdom, we ask: Hear our prayers. Amen.

Glad to read this @ThunderBunk . I agree with Nick that "not dreadful" can be a win.

Thinking of you and Mr F travelling today @Firenze , for the funeral tomorrow, and for the journey home.

    For @ChastMastr 's Greg.

Continuing prayer for @Gramps49 's Sammy and the family.

Glad that the funeral was 'not dreadful' @ThunderBunk .
Smooth travels @Firenze and Mr F. I hope the weather is a bit better further north than it is here at present.
So glad that Sammy is doing so well @Gramps49.
    Prayers for @ChastMastr's Greg.
