YaY! for Sammy! How exciting for him and his family.

I hope Mrs Sioni's recovery goes well too.

Tonight I got a message from one of my cousins that an old family friend, J, who I have known since childhood, is dying soon. My cousin and his wife are flying from Florida to Montana tomorrow to try and see him before it's too late. Please pray that they should get there in time to say goodbye, and that J's passing should be easy. He was a good friend of my late brother, and my hope is that my brother greets him on the other side.

Praying for Nicole, father and friends.

Mrs Sioni says thanks for the prayers. Her knee is still stiff and painful, but the new meds and cool gel are helping. We’ll be getting in touch with the GP on Monday.

One person I know is very worried about their sick elderly cat that they’ve had for 18 years.

Another person is grieving terribly for their dog who has just passed.

Please pray for the health and souls of all sick and deceased pets, and those who are worried about or grieving for them.

I have a dear (new Christian) colleague, D, who grieves after one of his (13+) guinea pigs dies. Which happens quite often . So your request is very much on my heart.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers.
  • 🙏 for a peaceful end for @NicoleMR's family friend J, and for her cousins to be with him.

🙏 for Mrs @sionisais ongoing rehab.

🙏 for our animal companions, for those who love them, for vets who care for them. For humans grieving their animal companions. "You, Lord, preserve both people and animals".

This is not anything approaching the gravity of the above requests, but if anyone has a little spare prayer time, I’d appreciate a prayer or two.

Starting Monday, I’ll be serving as a commissioner to the 227th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). While I’m excited—this is something of a bucket list item for me—I’m also feeling some weight of responsibility. I’ve been doing lots of reading/studying over recent weeks, and there will be much more to come.

Add to that, we’ll be following the post-COVID (and money-saving) format of online committees meetings followed by in-person plenaries. So, that means 12ish hours on Zoom Monday and Tuesday, and 10ish hours on Wednesday (with breaks, of course). We must be present and have our video on at all times.

Then we head to Milwaukee for 5 days of plenaries.

    Any prayers are appreciated!

Prayers for @Nick Tamen , that sounds very intense. I find it hard to concentrate after an hour of any sort of meeting, but on-line is particularly difficult.

My old friend J is still alive, my cousins made it in time to see him, but it won't be much longer. Please pray for all of us who care for him and for his ease.

For all who, like me, have a health (f'rinstance heart) condition affected by the extreme heat. I'm really struggling to stay cool, reasonable and good-tempered. I think I have what could be called 'Father Jack syndrome' once the temperature gets above 28 degrees!
    Drink!!

I don't even have the excuse of a heart condition, but I'm rubbish in high heat. You have my sympathy, and my prayers.

That wasn't where I thought you were going with that reference. And probably the safest of the options in hot weather, though it depends what you're drinking.

I don't cope with heat either. Fortunately I have been allowed to work from home all week sitting next to a nice big fan - but I will still be glad when the weather breaks!

Prayers for those who are struggling in this heat, particularly those who have to work outside and/or do physically demanding jobs.

Maybe it's not a massive thing, but it feels like one. I have mislaid my phone. I'm fairly sure that I left it behind tonight at the world's hottest orchestra rehearsal, and I'm quite upset. I really, really need it and it also has all my photos. Husband en rouge has tried calling it and it's not answering, which hopefully means it's still where I left it.

    Pray I get it back?
  • I hope you find it, LVER. Those sorts of things really wind me up.
  • Nick TamenNick Tamen Shipmate
Many thanks for prayers on my behalf! I managed to survive the Zoomathon. (By my count, it was 25+ hours of Zoom meeting over three days. Dealing with things like a motion to amend a motion to amend over Zoom is an experience. ).

I was pleasantly surprised that I actually managed to stay engaged and attentive at least 95% of the time. It was when we broke at the end of the day and my brain registered that it wasn’t just a meal break that it turned to oatmeal.

Today was a day off/rest day, tomorrow a travel day, then full in-person days Saturday until Thursday (though no business sessions on Saturday). So prayers are still appreciated.

Meanwhile, I’m praying for all here.

  • Amazing. I'm so glad!

LVER, re the phone, I'm praying. But if you can't find it, hopefully you've got a backup for the photos, so all is not lost? (which you may not even remember setting up, if somebody helped you with the phone)

  • Would you pray for a friend whom I love like a sister, who has been increasingly snappish and angry with me over the past few years--and it's reached a pitch where I'm honestly concerned she's going to dump me overboard at any minute? I think I know the real cause of the anger, and it's not anything I've done or she's done--but just a set of circumstances that can be super hard for anyone to handle, and I think she's not coping.

I've been close to her for nearly 40 years.

Heartfelt prayers for all these heartfelt requests ascending.

I would light a candle but it's too darn hot. Which of itself needs prayer for all of us struggling.
    Lord, have mercy.

So glad about the phone @la vie en rouge . I thought I'd lost mine while on holiday last week and I know how awful it feels to think it might be totally lost.
Glad you got through the zoomathon @Nick Tamen , prayers that the face to face sessions go well too.
@Lamb Chopped for you and your friend and for all that need our prayers, specially those that cannot ask.

That's too long a frienship to lose to cicrcumstance. Lord, in your mercy.

I told an old, Christian friend of slightly less...duration, longevity?...to back off a little while ago with his magisterial pronoucements on what we used to call here 'dead horse issues'. What I wanted to say, not really to my credit, was that now such issues affect me very close to home, he might consider how costly absorbing such pronoucements might be to me before making them in my presence. I'm not sure even that is a creditable thing to come out with, given how many friends I already had who would find his statements hurtful, and maybe I should have taken a stand long before. Perhaps he thought I was demanding he change his view. Lord, in your mercy.
