  • Bats currently visit our garden at around 9.45, we often sit outside to watch them.

Well if we're talking about animals that visit us, not bats, but I am here at my summer cottage, and have set up my hummingbird feeder, and am getting lots of the little darlings.

We had a hummingbird feeder in Fredericton, and were lucky enough to see one or two coming to visit.

Alas, where we are, we’re forbidden by local ordinances from hanging hummingbird feeders, or any other bird feeders. They attract hummingbirds and other birds, but they also attract bears, and bears are A Problem here.

I had a big flame bush where I used to live, and the hummingbirds loved dining there!

Before hummingbird feeders were common, there was a rose-of-sharon tree in the back yard, and the hummingbirds loved those blooms.

In the UK we are advised not to feed the birds at this time of year, because there should be enough food around for them anyway.

Yes, but be sure to put fresh water out. And for hedgehogs too.

Minnie went to the groomer today to have most of her fur chopped off. Judging by the smell coming from her paws last night, not before time. As usual we played Good Cop/Bad Cop: I took her there (and got the Look of Betrayal) and my husband collected her.

She looks beautiful now, but the groomer sprayed her with some horrible pongy perfume, so she still smells bad... you can't win.
