Since we're in Hell, I feel free to say, as we would in a certain corner of Canada, "Well, fuck me..." Talk about a week that sucks in a year that sucks.
That pretty much sums it up. I was afraid this is what I’d find then I saw how many new posts were in this thread.
I’m glad his suffering is done, but I shall miss him very much.
I’ll post again the prayer I posted at Rossweisse’s death. They fit Robert Armin, too.
O God,
before whom generations rise and pass away,
we praise you for all your servants
who, having lived this life in faith,
now live eternally with you.
Especially we thank you for your servant The Wanderer/Robert Armin,
whose baptism is now complete in death.
We praise you for the gift of his life,
for all in him that was good and kind and faithful,
for the grace you gave him,
that kindled in him the love of your dear name,
and enabled him to serve you faithfully.
We thank you that for him death is past and pain ended,
and that he has now entered the joy you have prepared;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Yes indeed. And thank you @Nick Tamen for the beautiful prayer and to @Ariel for being the Ship's connection to Robert. May light perpetual shine upon him.*
*and it sucks that all I have to do is type "may" and predictive text fills in the whole sentence.
Peace Robert. Prayers ongoing.
Prayers for those we hear of, and those we don't, those caring and those grieving.
My thanks for this community of care.
Miss a day visiting here and, oh dear, another shipmate gone; I am so sorry to hear it. one whose posts always seemed to me to reflect a sensitive and very thoughtful person.
Lisa's hair has started to fall out, but she is putting a brave face on it. Her next infusion is Dec 10th.
Just heard (yesterday) that one of the best, kindest and most modest fellows in our society (of antique modellers, since you ask) has died - quickly - of pancreatic cancer. Which is nasty. What a bugger! I shall miss him at our meetings. Please pray for the repose of Peter. Lord have mercy.
So that's three this week. 2020 is turning into a very bad year ....
Losing your hair must be horrible, but I hope Lisa has the same sort of experience as the niece of a friend - when she'd finished with the chemo and her hair grew back it was wavier than it had been before, and had a new coppery glint to it. She was delighted!
Lisa is having her second chemo dose today. They are reducing the steroid dose to try to prevent or at least ameliorate the horrid week-long depressive episode she experienced after the first time.
Love, thanks and prayers to and for all here.
Steroids do help you survive the chemo.
I found they made me hyper and aggressive (still me but worse in my less attractive traits). I went down to half-doses to try to get the best of the drug's strenghtening effects without the psychological side-effects. It worked well right till the very end when I had to take the full dose again.
So I hope it works for her.
Prayers ascending
My thanks to all of you who pray here. Lisa had her second chemo infusion on Friday. This went well. The oncologist reduced the steroids so (thus far) Lisa has had no depressive episode, and she slept for fifteen hours. The oncologist has also cancelled the session she was going to have Christmas Eve.
In Lisa (and her church's parlance) PTL! So the family is in good spirits, but we won't be able to visit.
My gratitude to all and especially to Our Lord for you all.
My sister, R, has just been diagnosed with cancer and admitted to an oncology ward. Could folks please join with me in praying for her and for A and Z (their actual initials!), family members who live in the same village and are rather frazzled with worry?
Prayers and positive thoughts for all who are experiencing cancer at this time. Another encouragement to those who post here hoping for some support; I expect many people check out this thread and hold these people in their hearts and thoughts, but don't necessarily post. Just because there doesn't always seem to be much of a 'response' doesn't mean people aren't responding.
Indeed what Amseimina said, I check this thread most every morning and I am sure that others do as well. Praying for all who post including today R. A. Z.
Anselmina is right and that's a good reminder of what happens here (as well as on the Prayer thread).
Praying now for all recently named here - and for those who have posted on their behalf and who love them or care for them.

Everything is getting difficult at this stage of my 28 day drug-cycle.
(I am on Day 23 so I have 5 more days of meds then I have a week off (as it were!) to recover before starting it all over gain).
Little strengthening prayers or candles requested ...

We will miss Robert so much.

I am hoping when they finish the re-construction of Christchurch Cathedral they will replace the menorah so I can light you some actual candles there.
