NicoleMR, on the chemo front, a close friend of mine had a lumpectomy a couple of years ago for a bee-bee pellet sized tumor where no lymph gland involvement was found during surgery, and she ended up not having to have any chemo but some radiation. Not pleasant but somewhat better than chemo. I pray that the whole process will be as comfortable as possible for you.
Sorry for double post; I've just heard of the death from cancer of a lady in the congregation in Fredericton. We ran into her and her husband at the hospital the day David was diagnosed and hearing of her death is bringing it all back.
Trying to get Mr. Image in for CT scans prior to surgery. Dr. faxed the request, I watched him do it. Called the number they gave me. The response was oh yes Mr. Image is due for one CT scan. Me with a copy of the request in front of me. No, note that is a request for 2 scans. Well, they said we only have one and our department head must review it before we give you an appointment. Called my doctor reported the problem, strange he said they are both on the same piece of paper, ( true I have the copy he gave me. )I will send it again. Called again to the hospital, this time they said that they had both requests but said we had to wait until they reviewed the request. Do not call us they said, we will call you when we are ready to schedule Mr. Image. Waited a week and called again. A new person on the phone yes all ready to go, so glad you called to schedule his appointment, we were waiting to hear from you. Makes me glad the surgery will be done in a different hospital, by someone we know and trust and who has a track record with us. For all of you weaving your way through the systems, my heart and prayers go out to you. Being ill and dealing with the medical system on top of it all can not be easy.
My brother is off for a scan today. From what he was saying yesterday it sounds as though his recovery which seemed to be going well has hit a bit of a glitch. Not sure if it is cancer related as such or a heart problem. My brother is 64 and our dad died of heart problems aged 70 so I'm a bit concerned either way.
Thinking of everyone that posts here.
So I had my preop stuff, they did an EKG and a blood test and a very through medical history, but I still don't know what time the surgery is going to be. They'll call me Sunday to let me know. I did find out that I won't be staying overnight in the hospital so that's good.
I also have a Covid test scheduled for Friday even though I'm fully vaccinated because they require it.
Got a call at lunchtime... they need to do a procedure on me, placing markers in my breast for the surgery. They called me today to tell me I have to have this done tomorrow, at 10:00 am, two counties away. Luckily the friends who have been driving me to my appointments are able to take me, and I was able to reschedule the (required for the surgery) Covid test I had at 11:30.
Good luck @NicoleMR.
I had quite an upbeat message from my brother after his scan which was delayed from Monday, till Tuesday and then finally happened yesterday. He obviously needs to see the consultant, but fingers crossed there is nothing sinister to worry about.
Mr. Image has his scans yesterday and after all the craziness getting his appointment I am happy to report the directions were clear on how to find the place, they had a wheelchair ready per our request, they took both scans as requested and we were in and out in 20 minutes. What a happy relief.
I found out today that my good friend I_ has what looks like days to live, due to cancer. I've not been able to get hold of him for about 3 weeks, and no-one seemed to know where he was. Well, now we know. There are a heck of a lot of people around here who are going to miss him. I just wanted to tell someone, really - this is not an angry post that belongs on here. Covid still means we can't visit, though his daughters can which is a blessing. I don't know whether intercessory prayer does much for the person on the end of it, but if you are able, please pray for peace, acceptance and the reassurance of God's love.
