At forty-eighteen, I have decided that coming to terms with being an adult is generally unnecessary. At best, one can be selective about when one wants to indulge in adulthood.
Thanks all. Just got back from lunch at the Flying Childers at Stanton in Peak and a walk over Stanton Moor past the Nine Ladies stone circle to find an unknown benefactor (who will be tracked down) has left a couple of bottles of bottle conditioned microbrewery stout in the porch.
Remembering +Michael Perham whose anniversary was 17th but I always also think of him on Easter Monday, the day he died. Holy Week & Easter were so precious to him. I miss him greatly and know many others do, too. Prayers for his wife Alison & their daughters.
“We are an Easter people and Alleluia is out song.”
Happy Birthday, Your Maj. We Aussies take a public holiday in June for that. It used to be officially called Queen’s birthday long weekend. Name has stuck. Any reason for a long weekend.
We had to sing "happy birthday" twice at church this morning - once for the Bishop (59) and once for a lady in the congregation (94). HM did get a mention too.
Happy 50th birthday to the Open University, the organisation which changed the life of myself and countless other working class people who never had the opportunity to go to college.
I'm pretty sure it wasn't Marlowe, but there are other candidates who had the education and experiences displayed in the plays. (Whoever it was seems to have had access to Lord Burleigh's library, which narrows it down.)
The man from Stratford did not have access to Lord Burleigh's library; he did not have any education worthy of the name - and that disqualifies him.
(My brother, a fervent Stratfordian, says that this view makes me an "elitist," but that seems to be his only real counterargument: He believes because he wants to believe.)

You mean you weren't listening to Das Rheingold live from The Met? (I actually missed most of it as well.)
Oh, I listened to Rheingold! But I heard other music as well.
Some restaurants are having specials for the day.
Sorry, am using phone, this is an interesting obituary of Edmund Capon.
You can take comfort that you're still younger than me ...

Worse birthdays have been had.
You know 60 is the new 40, don't you?

Also, happy St. George's Day!
d on April 23.
I belong to the group that believes that Mr. Shakespeare wrote all of the plays attributed to him, though a few may have had a co-author.

May the Fourth be with you!

Indeed - many happy returns!
