Today is the 90th birthday of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu and there are tributes right across South African social media and events celebrating his long life and activism, including a thanksgiving service at St George's Cathedral in Cape Town. A much-loved, extraordinary person.
As someone who has spent a lot of time working with so-called Essex girls in education and youthwork, I think the girls would have a much better time of it if the Essex men and boys, in general, didn't have such expectations.
Happy birthday to the Birthday Quartet! Unfortunately, the only one still onboard is @Firenze but I'm still thinking of the other three: @Rossweisse celebrating in Heaven, @YeOldeMotherboarde, and @Marmot.

My father, who died in 2002, would have been 98 today. I’m sorry that Pi Day wasn’t a thing for most of his life, as he would have enjoyed it, I think. He was an engineer, and a favorite dad joke of his was to respond to mention of “πr2” with “no, pie are round.”
